Food Forest Site Visit

HI FusionED’s partner, Hapa Farms, hosted an inspirational site visit of their food forest!  Using natural, sustainable practices that align with nature, rather than fighting against it, this food forest is a bountiful source of produce and fish.  Bioswales capture and redirect water, tilapia feast on live food grown on-site, including black soldier fly larvae, fairy shrimp, and moina, and trees thrive with green waste water from the fish!

Job Shadowing Opportunities

Thank you to our partners, Hawaii Workforce Pipeline ( for matching our coding students with job shadowing opportunities in IT, Computer Science, and Engineering.  Check out some of their opportunities in this video (  If you’re a student in the Windward or Honolulu Districts and are interested in job shadowing or mentorship opportunities, please reach out!

Python Coding Teacher Training

HI FusionED and the Windward District Office CTE co-hosted a Python coding training for teachers in the Windward District!  Six teachers, reaching grades K through 12, were introduced to the Python coding language and created mini games to practice their newfound skills!

Python is a great introductory text-based coding language that was designed to be intuitive.  It is a great tool for learning coding but is also used in commercially-available products and apps, including YouTube, Instagram, and Spotify!

This work was sponsored by a grant from the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation
